ST THOMAS ATOM AE STARS HOLD ON TO FIRST PLACE IN THEIR LEAGUE
In a full hockey week the ATOM AE team held onto first place with a record of 11-2-1 and 78 goals for and 25 against by:
1 – 1 tie with the Dorchester Dragons – Nov 25
5 – 1 win over the East Lambton Eagles – Nov 27
8 – 0 win over the West Lorne Comets – Nov 28

1 – 1 tie with the Dorchester Dragons – Nov 25 GAME OVERVIEW

Matt Beckwith was once again solid between the pipes, keeping his team in the game.  When he was called upon to make the big saves he did, as the STARS team took 8 penalties in this game.  Matt had a hot stick and a great glove hand.  Getting the team's only goal was Josh Hare.  On defense , Noah Allen passed to his line mate Carson Nurse, who passed to Josh on a rush up the wing, beat the defense with a sweet sweeping deak and then a clear breakaway to the net, driving the puck past the goalie.  Dorchester came to play in this game and the STARS needed to focus on playing as a team.  Caden Beshara on defense, also tied up the forwards rushing in to the STARS net and blocked a couple of shots.

5 – 1 win over the East Lambton Eagles – Nov 27 GAME OVERVIEW

With a team practice the day before which focused on team passing and team building the ATOM AE STARS took that lesson and used what they learned in this game to come out with the win.

Chris Wood took a lot of punishment in the net tonight but held on for the team victory.  It seemed there was a puppet master above Woody and whenever a shot came his glove hand went up and caught the puck in midair.  Great heads up play go out to two defensemen, Noah Allen and Sam Graham.  Chris Wood made the initial save on a play, the puck tricked just past him to spin on the goal line.  With Eagle’s bodies everywhere trying to bang the puck in, Noah Allen took off and cleared the puck out saving the goal.  Sam Graham as well saved a goal by clearing a rebound from the crease of the STARS net.  Wearing the forwards down and taking the wingers out of position was Ryan Payne and Ryan Farrell.

Josh Hare got his first hat trick of the season, charging the net and grabbing a couple of rebounds.  Cameron Watson had an impressive game, slamming up the boards and fighting to the net and scored from a rebound.  Tysen Hunter and Dylan Buhler paired together for a lot of give and go plays, using the passing drills from practice to score tonight. Ryan Payne and David Gauthier also learned lessons from practice: passing and getting into proper positions, way to go boys.  In strong defensive plays, Josh Levesque was just an animal on the ice tying up anyone that came close to him.

8 – 0 win over the West Lorne Comets – Nov 28 GAME OVERVIEW

What a team game!!!  The boys again used what they have been learning in practice and applied it effectively to this game.  In net, Matt Beckwith was not overly busy, but came thru and stopped all shots and breakaways that the Comets had.  The defense played a solid give and go, get the puck out of the zone game that there were very few scoring opportunities for the opposition.  Devin Robison-Sareh played hard at the net and always was in the play with his head up ready to make a pass to his line mates.  Noah Dos Santos led the team in goals getting another hat trick on the season.  Noah scored a goal on a power play and all goals were huge battles in front of the net, batting and winning on the puck.  Tysen Hunter bagged 2 goals, one a rush from end to end deaking around players and blindsiding the goalie.  Cameron Watson picked up another with a give and go play from Josh Hare.  Josh Hare also scored with a flick of the wrist, past the defense and then making the goalie see red.  In another picture perfect, text book pass from Noah Dos Santos across the crease, David Gauthier celebrated another goal on the season.  It looked like Noah was going to shoot and then he passed it to Gauthier for the one timer into the wide open net.  Nice work keeping your stick on the ice David.  Today was definitely a team win with some really exciting team passing and rushing to the net.

To see the boys play with passion, heart and love of the game is really exciting for the spectators and parents.  The ATOM AE STARS as a team are really coming together for a successful season.

GO STARS GO!!!!!
