ST THOMAS ATOM AE STARS TAKE 1ST PLACE IN THE SHAMROCK LEAGUE WITH A NAIL BITING 4-2 WIN AGAINST THE LAMBTON SHORES PREDATORS.
With this huge win the boys complete the regular season with a record of 17-2-1 for a total of 35 points, also leading the league in goals for with 103 and goals against with 37. (WAY TO PLAY GOALIES)

GAME OVERVIEW – 4-2 win over the Lambton Shores Predators

The team game out flying and it was an evenly matched first period ending 0-0.  Josh Allen and Caden Beshara kept getting in the way of their forwards to keep the heat off their goalie.  The STARS had their chances as well to take control of the game, as Ryan Payne and Devin Robison-Sareh both got close to the net and received passes.

Into the second period David Gauthier and Dylan Buhler also had their chances, coming close to beating the Predators’s goalie but were denied each time.  Noah Allen had a great second period cutting off the passes of the forwards and clearing the puck from the zone.  But after the second period the STARS found themselves in a huge 2 goal deficit.  Some bad bounces and some missed shots got the STARS into some trouble and they had to figure a way out of the mess.

Giving the players a pep talk at the bench, the coaches told the team, “the season isn’t done yet” and it was all STARS in the third period.  Matt Beckwith; “Becksey”; pulled out all the stops to deny any Predators to turn on the red light.  Sam Graham played with a lot of determination to help the team out with this win by holding the blue line in the offensive end and shooting towards the net.  Tysen Hunter got the STARS on the board as he walked the defense and deaked the goalie.  Carson Nurse played an excellent third period scrapping for the puck and winning the bouts against the boards.  He also made some great plays in the defensive end blocking some shots and aggravating the Predators’s forwards.  Tysen Hunter then tied the game with a quick shot over the goalie’s shoulder.  The momentum of the game suddenly switched in favour of the STARS.  Noah Dos Santos followed Tysen Hunter to the net and buried a rebound on a short handed play to get the game winning goal.  Then to seal the win, Josh Hare netted the STARS last goal as he received the pass from Cameron Watson and Ryan Farrell.

CONGRATS BOYS ON AN EXCELLENT SEASON!!!

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank COACH CHRIS SANFORD for all his dedication and hard work.  Without a great coach, there would not be a great team.  You give a lot of yourself into helping the kids and we want you to know we really appreciate you.
