What Levels of Hockey does STMHA offer?

 

St. Thomas Minor Hockey offers the following levels of hockey:

 

Initiation Program – Is a structured “learn to play” hockey program designed to introduce players and parents alike to the games basic skills. The program enables players to become contributing members of a team; to develop self-confidence and to experience a sense of personal achievement. These goals are achieved in an atmosphere of cooperation and fun. Fees - $575

 


House League for players 7-13
– St. Thomas Minor Hockey offers and an “in house” house league program for players interested in recreational level hockey.  All games and practices are held in St. Thomas and there is no travel involved. House league players pay the General Registration fee of $575 

***Local League for players 14-18 (new for 2016-17 season) - St. Thomas Minor Hockey will offer Local League hockey for both our Bantam and Midget age players.  Local League includes both home and away games that require travel to our neighbouring centres such as Port Stanley, Aylmer, Belmont and Lambeth amoung others.  Local League players pay the General Registration of $575 and the Local League fee of $200.

 


Tyke & Novice Select
– Select teams are comprised of players who are participating in the STMHA house league program. Players are selected through a tryout process. Select teams will have additional practice time and participate in exhibition games with other centres and they may participate in tournaments.

 

Players participating in a Select program are required to pay an additional fee to cover the costs of: additional ice time, socks, referees and timekeepers. Teams are also responsible for paying any tournament entry fees. 2016-17 Select Team fees are still to be determined.

 


Travel Hockey -
St. Thomas Minor hockey offers 2 levels of Travel hockey for players interested higher level of competition. Players selected for a Travel teams are required to pay the General Registration Fee of $575 and an additional Travel Fee of approximately $425 depending on the number of players selected to the team. Additional costs will also include Tournaments (entry fees, hotel costs, meals, gas etc) and Jerseys. Teams may choose to fundraise to off set some of these additional expenses.
 

There are 2 levels of Travel Hockey “A” and “AE”.


A Travel Teams
– The top players are first selected for the “A” team.  The St. Thomas “A” Travel Teams participate in the Alliance League and travel to centres such as Cambridge, Waterloo, Sarnia, London, Burlington and Stratford.

 


AE – Additional Entry
– STMHA offers Additional Entry teams as needed in Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget. Additional Entry offers players who have been not been selected for an “A” team to still participate in Travel Hockey. The AE teams play in the Shamrock hockey league and travel to centres such as Lambeth, Mooretown, St. Marys, Lucan etc. AE offers a stepping stone to “A” hockey.
