HOCKEY GODS ONCE AGAIN SMILE ON THE ATOM AE STARS
Continuing the winning streak in regular season play, with a 7-5 win over the Lucan Stars the boys have a 9-1 record, half way thru the season: with 62 goals for and 19 against.  Hockey fans had to do a lot of praying for this outcome.  The first period was nothing but defense on both sides of the blue.  Caden Beshara and Sam Graham paired up to shut down Lucan’s forwards.  It was late in the first when Noah Dos Santos put the ST. THOMAS STARS up by one with a rush up the wing and then hitting the top shelf.

The ATOM AE STARS took a commanding 3-0 lead in the second, as Devin Robins-Sareh netted a bouncing rebound after a huge scramble in front of the net.  In another player scramble in Lucan’s end Tysen Hunter bangs another one in.  Defensive plays by Noah Allen and Carson Nurse kept Lucan away from the goalie Matt Beckwith, who was very busy in the third.  Matt made some crucial saves in the third to keep the team in the game.

Then there was the THIRD!!   Where all  “H E  double hockey sticks” broke loose

The third was a bit rougher play as Josh Allen cleared the puck off the boards, then with assists by Josh Hare and Ryan Farrell, Cameron Watson snuck one past their netminder in a flurry of players in front of the net.  Lucan, with a bit of lucky plays and some missed plays by the Stars, came back with 3 goals.  As the wingers Ryan Payne and Dylan Buhler tied up their men, Tysen Hunter found some free ice and took off on a break away, deeking the goalie and got his second of the night.  After a pile up of players in front of the STARS goal and bodies wound together and a combination missed passes, Lucan banged the puck in a couple of times tying the game at 5-5.  It seemed like the team was out of it.  With a prayer to the Hockey Gods, Matt Beckwith made a couple of heart stopping saves. Then the ATOM AE STARS team came back to life from the beyond.  Cameron Watson got his second of the day.  With help from Noah Dos Santos and the Lucan goalie, David Gauthier scored on a sweet breakout, pass and score play.  The defense stood tough at the end of the game and the boys celebrated the big comeback.

Thank you Hockey Gods!!

GO STARS GO!!!!
