Penalty Box Parade

The referee and timekeeper had their hands full in the game against Bothwell.  Both teams were struggling with the new headshot rule.

Our team had to survive three 5 on 3 short handed disadvantages.  The forwards again were coming back and helping the defense maintain control on the penalty kill.  For the most part, we were able to keep Bothwell to the outside.
The shots on net were indictive of how most of the game transpired.  We out shot them 11-5 in the first period.  Matt Roberts scored the only goal in this frame, assisted by Stevie-Ray Drew.  The second period had similar results, with St. Thomas out shooting and out scoring Bothwell by a 16-6 margin in shots and 3-1 margin on goals.  Bothwell's goal came on one of those 5 on 3 disadvantages.  Scoring for St. Thomas was Ethan Clunas from the point, assisted by Bailey Douglas and Chris Mikulinac.  Third goal of evening was scored by Stevie Drew after receiving a short outlet pass from Connor Trumble.  Final goal of the second frame, again came off the stick of Stevie Drew, assisted by Josh Chatten.  The third period saw even more penalties being called, but there was no change on the score board.  Overall shots on net were 37-14, and the final score read 4-1 in St. Thomas' favour.

We started out tentatively and had to overcome a series of penalties.  St. Marys out shot the Stars 12-8 in the first period, largely inpart from being undisciplined.  We were scored upon twice and one of those goals was a St. Marys power play.  St. ...

100% of all goals scored, are a result of a shot on net.  This is a direct quote from the Great One (99).  As a result of our team grasping this concept, we went on to out shoot our opposition by a 3 to 1 ratio (51-17).If it had not been for ...

First I would like to thank all the boys that came to all the try outs this year. It is never easy having to choose only 2 goalies out of 6 especially when they are all so talented.
