ST THOMAS NOVICE STARS IMPROVE TO 7-3-1 WITH 2 WINS ON THE WEEKEND
ST THOMAS STARS 7 – Thamesford Attack 3
ST THOMAS STARS 6 – Lambton Shores Predators 4

Game 1 on the weekend was a back and forth affair with Thamesford until the last period.  Maclane Stringle had a command performance in net allowing only 3 goals by the Attack.  Maclane had some great side to side action and stopped some high flying breakaway and deaking attempts of the Attacks centre man.  Even though Colton Wiacek and Josh Niles teamed up on defense to block many of the rushes to the net and removed the puck from the offense Thamesford took a 0-1 lead thru the first period.

The STARS came back in the second to even the game at 2 apiece when Jayce Smith and Evan Clarke raced up the boards passing the puck to Keavan Milmine.  Keavan headed straight for the net and slid one thru.  Keavan had a pair of goals on the night.  Brady DeDecker made a quick little move at our blue line giving the puck to Brennen Smith, Brennen then faked out a defenseman and passed over to an open side where Jack Pigram was waiting for the puck and slammed another one past.  Mike Roth and Alex Popen had to skate their legs off but were able to overcome the offensive pressure by Thamesford.

Thamesford regained the lead early in the third, but since they had few players they started to tire and couldn’t keep up to the STARS pressure.  After a frantic play in front of the Attacks net, Hunter Nurse found the puck on the end of his stick and tipped it up over the leg of their goalie to tie the game again.  Ethan Miron grabbed the puck in our end skated thru a few players and then making a quick heads up decision passed over to a rushing James Martin who got the game winning goal as he lit up the net again.  Ending the game with 2 more goals, Coleton Robison-Sareh was in great position in front of the net receiving a couple of sweet passes from the corners.

The ST THOMAS NOVICE STARS really came alive in the third period and kept pounding the weakening players of Thamesford.

Game 2 was a kind of mirror relationship of game 1 for the NOVICE STARS team.  Great offensive pressure in two and a half periods and then a couple of lucky bounces in the third got the Lambton Shores Predators back in the game.  Ryan Bonter has been one hot goalie for the STARS and continued to melt the ice and then freezing the pucks that came towards him.  Keavan Milmine put on a scoring clinic in this game getting a hat trick and the winning goal of the game as the STARS beat the Predators 6-4.  Brennan Bradley, Ethan Miron and Hunter Nurse teamed up for another great pressuring game in the offensive end.  Ethan received a pass out from the corner from Hunter and let one fly over the goalie’s shoulder to increase the STARS lead.

With a couple of bouncing pucks and some lucky play action by Lambton Shores, they were able to turn things around in the third forcing their way back into the game.  But the time was running out on the Predators as they ran into penalty troubles.  Finishing the scoring for the STARS, Jack Pigram netted a pair as he and Brady DeDecker worked well in front of the Attack’s net, as they kept banging away at the puck until it went in.

Again boys GREAT TEAMWORK!!! KEEP PLAYING YOUR GAME OF HIGH PRESSURE - 3 PERIOD HOCKEY!!

GO STARS!!!!
