DESPITE BEING DOWN IN THE ROUND ROBIN
THE ST THOMAS NOVICE TEAM IS HERE TO PLAY -

The ST THOMAS NOVICE TEAM fell behind in the last three round robin games of the Shamrock Playoffs, losing an emotional game to South Huron 2-3, and dropping one to Ilderton and one to Lambeth.   But the NOVICE BOYS are still coming and coming as a team, playing with pride for their jersey and ended up in a tie with Ilderton Jets 1 -1 in their last game.

There are a lot of player highlights in these playoffs as well.  Keavan Milmine has had some great chances at the net and has come away with a hat trick in one, a wrap around goal in another and the goal in the 1-1 tie against Ilderton.  Ethan Miron shot a puck along the ice towards the South Huron net, the puck went off a defenseman’s stick and tumbled end over end, high in the air, going over top of the goalie and just below the cross bar to end up in the net.  Josh Niles had some fire in his skates as he rushed back to cut off a Lambeth rush and then turned the puck back up the ice to an open STARS player.

Jack Pigram and Alex Popen are teaming up on the wings to make a lot of heat stopping action happen on the ice as they keep battling in the corners and passing out to the open centre play of Colton Robison-Sareh.  Jayce Smith and Brennen Smith are flying up the ice as the wingers break out, getting to the net to force the goalies to challenge them.  In the last game against Ilderton, everyone stepped up their game.  Making great plays was the only thing on the list for the boys to do today.  Getting an assist on today’s goal was the speedy defensive pair of Evan Clarke and Colton Wiacek.

Mike Roth, James Martin and Brady DeDecker were the enforcers of the blue line today as they kept their heads up and cut off so many passes to Ilderton’s high man.  Mike had some great sliding action on the ice to upset the shots of the Ilderton players.  Hunter Nurse had a great offensive and defensive game today as he won a few face-offs and kept battling and passing the puck.  He also raced back into our end to cut of the high breakaway man again and stripped the puck away from him and then blocked another shot from going to the net.  Brennan Bradley has a great determination to give it his all.  Brennan as well got back with some speedy skating into our end and cut off another rush by Ilderton and swamped the forward and made him give up the puck to the STARS defense.

Pressure, pressure, pressure .  Hard skating.  Heads up passing. Get to the net and shoot.  Follow up the rebounds.  This was all done today in the great TEAM effort of the NOVICE STARS.

Keep up the great work boys.  It’s great hockey when you all are smiling and having fun.

GO STARS!!!!
