NOVICE STARS - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
It is hard to believe that it is the end of another successful season.  Wasn’t it just September???

The ST THOMAS NOVICE STARS TEAM will take away so much from this year.  One of the best things has got to be the smiles on the player’s faces as they enjoy their passion of hockey.  It is always a successful season if you keep the fun in it.  Amazing, how much was packed into this season.  We started as a bunch of kids playing in our first exhibition games against Amherstburg to a STARS TEAM winning the GLACIER POINTE THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENT and finishing in the SHAMROCK “A” POOL.  Our REGULAR SEASON RECORD IS 14-9-3; as we battled each opponent.

As a TEAM we played in three tournaments, with one more to go; that we will win in ORILLIA.  We hoisted the cup in PORT HURON.  The NOVICE BOYS put together 14 GAMES WITH NO LOSSES.  We played at the John Labatt Centre before a Knight’s game.  We travelled to DETROIT to play an exhibition game before the RED WINGS game.  How many players can say “I PLAYED AT THE JOE”.  We got to meet London Knight’s players and we got to talk to Red Wings players.  We shared in highs and lows of the TEAM, each time coming out as better hockey players because of the experiences.     It was a great season with some players getting their first goals to some players getting hat tricks and the goalies getting their first shut outs.

Here are some memorable moments:

1 – Ryan Bonter

The SEASON OPENER – And you’re the goalie to start the season against STRATHROY and you came out challenging the shooters and with a hot glove hand made save after save getting the win

35 – Maclane Stringle

Hopefully you never forget the feeling of being in a shoot out at “THE JOE” infront of 40,000 people and not letting in a goal.

2 – Alex Popen

FIRST GOAL for the NOVICE STARS of the regular season against Strathroy from a goalie rebound

3 – Brady DeDecker

Got your 1st and 2nd goal as a STAR in Game 2 of the regular season with our 11-0 win against West Lorne

4 – Jack Pigram

The HUGE GRIN on your face as we entered into the JLC Dressing rooms to play our exhibition game against South Huron and you said “THE KNIGHTS PLAY HERE” and then you met some

5 – Josh Niles

Your first penalty at “THE JOE” – home of the RED WINGS – “How did that feel?”

6 – Jayce Smith

Game 3 at the GLACIER POINT TOURNAMENT and were versing ST CLAIR to go to the finals and you get the short handed game winning goal in the 5-3 win

7 – James Martin

Our speedy defenseman that has great offensive skill and got a hat trick in Game 1 of the SHAMROCK PLAYOFFS against South Huron in our 5-5 tie.

8 – Mike Roth

Hey BULLDOG – ENFORCER OF THE BLUE LINE – what great plays in the 1-1 tie against Ilderton in the SHAMROCK PLAYOFFS – you were not letting any pucks or players get by you

9 – Colton Wiacek

Another FIERCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER –controlling the blue line and has a great shot to boot – getting his first goal of the regular season in Game 2 against West Lorne carrying in the puck from our end

11 – Hunter Nurse

You’re a DIGGER DUDE – whenever you’re out you try to give it your all and you set up so many great scoring opportunities no wonder you have so many assists

12 – Coleton Robison-Sareh

Great game in our last SHAMROCK PLAYOFF game against Mt Brydges getting 2 goals in the game – keep battling

13 – Keavan Milmine

Game 9 of the regular season against East Lambton and you pull out the fire power getting your first HAT TRICK as a STAR in the 7-2 victory and have more HAT TRICKS to come

14 – Brennan Bradley

One of the hardest working players in every game especially Game 23 against St Mary’s getting the NOVICE STARS their only goal

15 – Ethan Miron

Getting your First HAT TRICK as a STAR in Game 2 against West Lorne and getting to skate beside and stand with DETROIT’s PAVEL DATSYUK and getting a little pat for good luck

16 – Evan Clarke

What a great defenseman you are and you can score goals too, getting your first in Game 3 against St Marys in our 3-3 tie

17 – Brennen Smith

Hey FIRECRACKER – great moves out there and another great digger for the puck – Always remember that great smile you had when you scored in DETROIT

These are just some of the highlights – there are just so many great times.  It’s great to see that not only are you teammates but good friends too.

It has been a great ride and adventure with all of you.  The coaching staff wishes you all the best of luck in your future hockey endeavors.

CONGRATS – ST THOMAS NOVICE TEAM ON A GREAT SEASON
