Welcome Letter for the 2012-13 Bantam AE tryout
Dear players and parents:

I would like to welcome all players and parents to this year's Bantam 'AE' tryouts.  This letter is to inform everyone involved about the tryout process.  There will be 3 tryouts, Tuesday, September 4th, Thursday, September 6th, and Saturday September 8th, with cuts being made after the 3rd  tryout on September 8. Each tryout will be run by me and assistants.    During the tryouts, players will be evaluated on the following:

1.    hockey skills and knowledge

2.    work ethic

3.    attitude and behaviour

4.    ability to follow instructions

Players should be reminded that evaluations begin the moment they walk into the arena.  The players will be observed on their behaviour both on and off the ice.  All I ask is that each player give a full effort on the ice and listen when instructions are given.  If a player is not sure of any instruction, please ask any of the instructors on the ice.  Lastly, good luck and HAVE FUN!!!

There will be no cuts made until the completion of the 3rd ice time.  At this time, a roster of those making the initial cut will be posted on the STMHA website by 9:00 pm on Saturday, September 8th.  There may be more than the required number of players on this initial roster as we may require an additional look at players to make a final decision.  The players listed on this initial list are asked to attend the ice time on Wednesday, September 12th at 8:00 pm.  If needed, further cuts will be made after this ice time. If this is the case, the final roster will be posted on the STMHA website shortly after this practice.

Previous travel experience does not guarantee placement on this team and all players will be given equal consideration during the tryout process.

Being on a travel team requires a high level of commitment, for both practices and games.  I would like to know if there will be players that are not able to attend our scheduled practice time on Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm. It is not fair to me or the other members of the team if there are players not making a full commitment.  So, as a courtesy to me, I would appreciate it if a player is unable to fulfil this commitment to notify me prior to the 3rd tryout.  This information will be considered when choosing the final roster.

I would appreciate it if all players attending the AE tryouts send me an email notifying me of their intent to tryout, which position or positions they have played in the past, and which position they would like to tryout for.  This information will be used in order to divide the players into 2 teams.  Emails can be sent to [email protected].

Players should bring their own water bottle to the tryouts.

I wish all players GOOD LUCK and look forward to seeing all players show their skills and give it their best effort.
