PEEWEE AE TEAM TAKE 4 WINS ON THE WEEK
TO IMPROVE REGULAR SEASON TO 8 – 0 with 65 goals for and 6 against.

The PEEWEE AE STARS are a remarkable TEAM this year and I do mean TEAM.  They have come out of the gate flying and it is due to complete TEAM play.  There is no greed on this TEAM; they play together at all ends of the ice.  Passing and passing and passing and setting each other up for the play; whether it is offense or defense there is passing and shooting from everyone.  Shots from the centre man, shots from the wingers and shots from the point by the defensemen and with all the resulting efforts we have the team with the greatest goal production in the league.  Then defending the nets, the goalies have the lowest goals against in the league as well.

GAME OVERVIEW THIS WEEK:

GAME 1 – ST THOMAS AE STARS – 7 – ILDERTON JETS 1

Chris Wood was outstanding in net again.  He made some great poke checks and snap glove saves.  He even had the classic “WOODY”; came out of the net to challenge and race the forward the puck, beat him corralled the puck and cleared it out and then made a spectacular rush back to the net and slide over to have the huge pad save.  The only criticism to his play is that the team goals against doubled in stature from 1 to 2.  JUST KIDDING WOODY – GREAT GAME DUDE.

Even though the score was 0-0 after the first period, the STARS had more drive and pressure than Ilderton and it paid off in the second and third periods.  Joey Hardy; with 2 goals on the night; got the STARS rolling with a fluttering knuckle ball shot that fooled Ilderton’s goalie.  Cameron Douglas collected a few caps as he got another hat trick today.  One goal was a sweet cross ice back hand that just sailed to the top corner.  Denys Reid broke out down the wing and hit Ryan Payne with a quick pass.  Ryan made a little move and slapped another in.  Noah Dos Santos from his knees in the sliding position swept the puck into the short side to beat the goalie again.  There was little physical pressure from Ilderton and the STARS defense of Sam Graham and Noah Allen were able to dominate the forwards of Ilderton.

GAME 2 – ST THOMAS AE STARS – 7 – MT BRYDGES COUGARS 0

Matt Beckwith was well up to the task of keeping the Cougars at bay.  Any shot that came his way was smothered.  Even when Matt was down and out and Mt Brydges was going to score, the big pad came across to block the opening and make another heart stopping save.

In the game 6 different players made it to the red light zone of the 7 goals.  The speedy, high pressure, digging line of Joey Hardy, Cameron Douglas and Noah Dos Santos combined for 3 goals and 7 points for the forty minutes.  Ryan Payne wristed another bullet and scored on the net on a shot from the corner.  Sam Hardy increased his production by flying down the wing and cut towards the net receiving a pass from Ryan Payne and Deny Reid.  Walking the blue line on defense, Ash O’Connor gave an earth shattering blow to the puck that whistled past everyone to the back of the net.  Team work again paid off for the goal by Zack Banks as Josh Hare and Jake Gillis passed back and forth right to the net.  David DaCosta not only stopped plays and rushes by the Cougars forwards but also setup plays and got 2 assists on the goals scored today.

GAME 3 – ST THOMAS AE STARS – 5 – STRATHROY ROCKETS 3

Strathroy was great competition for the STARS and it made the boys play harder, with more focus to earn this win, especially when the Rockets got to the score board first.  This was a great game to watch and to be a STARS fan.  Not only the play went back and forth, but the score did as well.  Noah Dos Santos with a feed from Cameron Douglas and Caden Beshara tied it up, but Strathroy came right back to take the lead.  Joey Hardy tied it up again as the STARS fans cheered on.  Joey battled in front until he won and beat the goalie on the top shelf.  Jake Gillis put the STARS on top when he swept a cross ice pass from Zack Banks and Carson Nurse.  Joey rushed in again to grab another but Strathroy came back to be within one.  To end the scoring Joey Hardy stepped around a few players and getting the big sombrero hat trick of the night gave the STARS the 5-3 win.

GAME 4 – ST THOMAS AE STARS – 8 – PETROLIA OILERS JETS 1

Game 4 of the week and again the STARS only allowed 1 goal for the Jets.  Jake Gillis stepped in from the wing and ripped another in.  Zack Banks was on fire today with 2 goals as he won the face of on won and walked right to the net and used a rocket launcher on another to bring the Jets goalie down.  Joey Hardy; having 2 more goals for the week; caught the Jets goalie napping and snapped a quick high shot to the back.  Cameron Douglas owns the crease of the opposing net and stood his ground to bang another in.  Sam Hardy made a lightning move and found an opening to rush at the net and score one.  As the play was winding down, Josh Hare kept the pressure up not letting the jets have the puck and went straight at the net to grab the last goal.  This game was the perfect example of TEAM play as all plays stepped up and competed hard.

AGAIN GREAT JOB BOYS!!!!

YOU GUYS HAVE GREAT TEAM SPIRIT!!!

 GO STARS!!!
