ST THOMAS PEEWEE AE STARS FINISH REGULAR

SEASON AS THEY STARTED; COMPLETE TEAM PLAY AND A PASSION FOR WINNING

PEEWEE AE STARS beat a good physical playing team in the Lambton Shores Predators 6-2 and then dominate the last regular season game at home against the East Lambton Eagles beating them 7-1.

In the first game against Lambton Shores, the STARS had to turn up the physical checking part of their game.  They not only did so, by playing a great physical game but also then played a great TEAM technical game where they out skated, out passed and out played the Predators. In the end they were no match for the fast paced action the STARS had set in motion.

Ash O’Connor got the STARS to the board first on a hot wired shot from the blue line, where a streak of fire was left and the back of the net was smoking where the puck hit it.  Caden Beshara and Sam Graham pulled all pucks away from the Predators forwards and made them pay for coming into the STARS end.  Noah Allen and Jake Gillis had some great passing plays back and forth, moving the puck down the ice to create open room and chances for the STARS.

The second period had great back and forth play by both teams, where both teams scored but still the STARS outplayed their opponents.  With passing and assists from Noah Dos Santos and Carson Nurse, Joey Hardy found himself with another hat trick to end the season.  Joey banked a rebound shot in and just wristed the other two in to keep the pressure going.  Cameron Douglas fired the puck at the net and somehow, it hit the back of the goalie and was in the back of the net.  Denys Reid got the final goal of the game maneuvering around players and creating space to find room to get at the net and sending a shot in that completely fooled the Predator’s goalie.  Josh Hare was a complete puck magnet. Wherever the puck was or was going to be Josh was there to start the play moving into the offensive end.

Chris Wood settled the play at the net around him by stealing the puck out of mid air, where the Predator’s forwards could not get their sticks on it.  Chris made a fantastic glove side save as the puck was sailing around mid height at the net.

In Game 2, it was more of the STARS TEAM play dominating play after play against the East Lambton Eagles.  Matt Beckwith took the helm in net and challenged the onslaught of wingers by giving the an old fashioned poke check to frustrate them.  Matt had a solid stick and a quick glove around the net and down on the ice as he had every part of the net covered.  Even when the Eagles were passing around the crease, Matt was able to get his stick on the puck and redirect it to safety.  David DaCosta held the STARS in position at the offensive blue line and sent puck after puck in towards the East Lambton net. David did a great job protecting the side of the STARS net to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.

It was the Hardy Boys in action in this game.  Frank and Joe (aka Sam and Joey) tracked down all the clues and solved the mystery of the Eagles defense and goaltender.  Joey got a goal and 2 assists and Sammy got the natural hat trick for the final game of the season.  Persistence and hard work paid off for the duo as they fought hard at the net.  Joey banged in a pass from Cameron at the mouth of the net to get the first goal of the game.  Denys Reid helped Sam Hardy get to the net and with a couple of flicks of the wrist turned on the bright red spotlight over the Eagles net.  Cameron Douglas and Noah Dos Santos teamed up to create passing plays and combined for 2 goals and 2 assists.  Cameron and Noah kept with the puck all the way to the net and followed up on the rebounds and beat the Eagles defense and goalie around the crease.  Also in Noah D's case he'll need a new stick as he played it to the breaking point.  Ryan Payne came back to play after a brief time off and grabbed 2 assists on the night.  In one play Ryan fed the puck back to the defensive line where Ash O'Connor whistled another puck low fooling the goalie.

The ST THOMAS PEEWEE AE STARS stayed to their game play of playing as a TEAM as they outdistanced and outplayed the Eagles to the end of the game.
