PEEWEE AE COME AWAY WITH A LOT OF POSITIVE PLAYS WITH TEAM SPIRIT, BUT COME UP SHORT AT THE CALEDONIA CHALLENGE CUP
GAME SUMMARY
1-      3 – 1 LOSS to Oakridge Rangers
2-      7 – 2 WIN over Caledonia Thunder
3-      6 – 2 LOSS to Hamilton Cyclones

Getting to the scoreboard in the tournament for the STARS was:

Sam Hardy with a quick move around a defensemen, then he cut back in and fired the puck to the short side and in.  Sam got to the net with the face off master; Ryan Payne.  Ryan again was a key factor for the STARS success in the second game creating picks and holes and passing plays to the wingers.  Zach Banks was a force to be reckoned with and stood his ground in front of the net and kept banging away at the puck to get two goals in the tourney.  Zach received passes and setup plays by his line mates, Jake Gillis and Josh Hare.  Both Jake and Josh were able to setup the plays off the boards and created openings to get to the opponent’s net.  Denys Reid used his speed and drove thru the defense to park himself in front of the net and tip a redirection shot from the defense and caught the goalie going the other way to score.  Noah Dos Santos scrapped for a pair of goals and using a screen of the goalie was able to beat him on the stick side.  Getting in on the double action, Joey Hardy netted two more as he redirected a shot off his ankle into the net and shot a quick backhand beating the goalie on the top shelf.  A kid that has a lot of heart and soul of the team Cameron Douglas was also in the double category of goals.  Cameron ducked and weaved and went wide towards the net and shot a blistering puck to the far side and got the second on a power play that was also effective for the STARS.

Chris Wood was just peppered in net for two of the games.  Chris stopped over fifty shots, keeping the STARS in the games, period by period.  Woody had to keep his head on a swivel as the Hamilton forwards split the ST THOMAS defense and passed from side to side, but Chris slid over for the timely save.  Matt Beckwith drew the easiest of the three games to come out with the victory in the STARS second game.  Caledonia came close to getting back into the game, but Matt stopped their breakaway by catching the puck in the chest and hanging on.

David DaCosta and Sam Graham are a great duo for the penalty kill o f the STARS, causing havoc to their opponent’s forwards, stopping them dead in their tracks.  Caden Beshara and Carson Nurse make a great team on defense, shooting from the blue line, opening up the chances for the big rebounds.  Caden and Carson had a great final game of the tournament against Hamilton with no goals against on their shifts.  Also on defense Noah Allen and Ash O’Connor teamed for some great “D” to “D” passes and fired some bullets at the net creating more chances for scoring opportunities.

 GOOD PLAY BOYS!!!

GO STARS!!!!
