PEEWEE AE STARS FINISH REGULAR SEASON WITH A 4-3 WIN
OVER THE FIRST PLACE ILDERTON JETS AND OPEN THE SHAMROCK PLAYOFFS WITH A 2-1 WIN OVER LAMBETH LANCERS

Ever since the PEEWEE AE STARS went to Oshawa for an away tournament they have come together and have been playing like a "TEAM".  The forwards are spreading out on the ice, wingers getting into position to receive the pass and then rush to the net.  The defense are playing a more physical game at both blue lines and are challenging and taking their opponents to the boards.  The goalies, well the goalies are playing  AMAZING!!!  The ST THOMAS PEEWEE AE STARS have picked the right time to gel together and it is paying off in wins on the ice.  One statement you can clearly make for the team is that they don’t give up, they play the entire game and try to make the best of it.  Not only are these kids’ teammates, but friends too.

Getting to the end of the season, the PEEWEE AE STARS have taken this year to be a strong development year for team play.  As well getting to the end of the season the boys have had a few first among them.  On forward, Josh Allen went with speed to the net to capture a rebound and buried the puck to get his first goal of the season.  Ethan Emick got this first of the season while the STARS were shorthanded and Ethan had some open ice to get to the goalie and sent a shot to the top shelf.  The defense has also got onto the scoreboard, when Sam Graham got his first goal of the season on a rush from our end, up the wing around a couple of players and right to the net sliding it by the goalie.  Another defensive player, Carson Nurse kept the puck in at the blue line, skated it down the blue and lifted a wrist shot high, deflecting off one of their defensemen’s shoulder and then off the goalies shoulder right into the back of the net, getting his first goal of the season.

The season definitely belongs to the goalies.  One, they have kept the PEEWEE AE STARS in every game that we have played.  Two, they have got to have had the most shots and the highest save percentages among them.  Again we can say that no matter the outcome of the game the goalies never gave up!  Chris Wood has a fantastic glove hand that can trap the puck in mid air.  Matt Beckwith with great side to side motion can always bring himself back into the play and make the timely saves.

In the last game against Ilderton, Cameron Watson was able to be in the right place battling for the puck and buried two goals on the day, to beat the Jets.  Colin Wright has taken this year to develop as a strong forward and again in the Ilderton game came up with a cut off pass on a shorthanded play and broke for the net getting the winning goal of the game.  Tysen Hunter has been able to get the team fired up to get to the net with speed and step up the plays on the ice.  In the first playoff game against Lambeth, Tyler Cleary has matured in his hockey play and stick handled the puck to the back of the net in an opening series win.  David Gauthier, Josh Levesque and Matt McBurney have made a great line this year as they make plays out of nothing to get to the net.  David Gauthier got to experience a penalty shot this year and although he did not score on that attempt, he has lit up the other end a few times this year.  As well, Josh Levesque and Tysen Hunter have their fair share of goals for the STARS.  Ryan Payne has battled well this year along the boards and keeps rushing to the net creating chances for his teammates.

Corey Fox, Ash O’Connor and Noah Allen have stepped up their games on defense and have really taken charge in the defensive end challenging all.  The STARS physical game has really been boosted up in the last part of the season.

Keep up the hard pressure in the game boys, play your positions, rush hard to the net and we’ll beat Lambeth to go to the finals.

GO STARS!!!!!
