Tyke Select White (B), U9 MD, 2009-2010 (St. Thomas Minor Hockey)

After a few loses in a row, the Tykes B get their second victory of the season when Aylmer visited St. Thomas for a second game between these two squads.

The little Stars tried hard but there was little they could do against very tough opponents at this year’s STMHA Tyke Classic Tournament. The three games our team played where against Caledon, Humber Valley and Petrolia, all of them with results favourable to the rival teams.

In spite of the loss 4-2 versus Petrolia, the Tyke Whites showed that they are getting better and better. This time they scored 2 goals against a very well rounded Petrolia team.

In what ended up being a hard fought battle, the Tyke White Junior Stars get their first win of the season with a final score of 2–1 over Aylmer. Aylmer started strong and went ahead with a breakaway goal but St. Thomas responded by the hands of #10 Rhett Devries who scored his second goal of the season. He was assisted by #15 Jordan Moore.  

It has been a rough start for the St. Thomas Tyke Select White team but they are starting to see the fruit of hard work. With just 10 seconds to go in the third period, #10 Rhett Devries had a huge slap shot from the point to score the first goal of the season for our Stars. Tyler Johnston earned an assist and the indirect assist goes to Lucas Glanville for a nice goalie screen. In net, Andrew Valdez stopped 13 shots during the first half of the game and Jacob Lister added 8 more stops during the second half. All in all it was a very good effort by the whole team. Go Stars!
