First Win of the Season for the Tyke Select White
Submitted By mvaldez on Tue 01 26, 10
In what ended up being a hard fought battle, the Tyke White Junior Stars get their first win of the season with a final score of 2–1 over Aylmer. Aylmer started strong and went ahead with a breakaway goal but St. Thomas responded by the hands of #10 Rhett Devries who scored his second goal of the season. He was assisted by #15 Jordan Moore.
The Stars kept pushing and they were able to get the second goal with about 12 minutes to go in the game. This goal was scored by #12 Owen Kernohan assisted by #16 Kolton Levesque.
From this moment, the game turned into quite a nail biter with both teams having several unfinished chances at both nets, including an Aylmer breakaway with about 2 minutes to go where the heroics of #7 Lucas Glanville, who took the best penalty ever, saved a very clear scoring chance.
In net, #1 Andrew Valdez stopped one after another charges from Aylmer shooters including a breakaway chance with mere seconds to go in the game to seal the victory.
Congratulations to the boys in their first win!
Go St. Thomas!!
