JR. STARS START SEASON WITH A LOSS
The Jr. Stars dropped their season opener at home to the Hamilton Reps on Sunday, losing 6-2.

Throughout the first period, the Jr. Stars matched their opponents and created several scoring opportunities.  Unfortunately each chance was just off the mark, or turned away by Hamilton's goalie.  Hamilton finally took the lead with just under 5:00 remaining in the period after making the most of a 3 on 1 rush.

Striking two more times in the first :90 seconds of the second period, including their second on another odd man rush, Hamilton increased their lead to 3-0 over the Jr. Stars.  Miles Vaughan's power play goal put the Jr. Stars on the board when his back hand found it's way over the shoulder of the Hamilton netminder.  Hamilton restored there 3 goal lead just 2:30 later with a power play goal of their own.  Harrison Bell struck again for the Jr. Stars just before the midway point of the period by burying his shot between the legs of Hamilton's goalie and putting the Jr. Stars back within 2.  As the clock ticked away, so did the Jr. Stars' energy and their desire to compete.  Hamilton added another, late in the second period goal and a breakaway goal in the third, making the final 6-2.

Throughout the second half of the game, the Jr. Stars failed to capitalize on 7 power play opportunities including a :90 second 2 man advantage.  Extended shift length, disorganized defensive zone play and a lack of energy added up to tho loss for the Jr. Stars.
