ST THOMAS MINOR ATOM COMPLETE THE WEEK
WITH A TIE AND A WIN.

ST THOMAS 0 – OAKRIDGE AEROS 0
ST THOMAS 4 – WEST LONDON HAWKS 1

The STARS boys have started to solidify and compete as a TEAM with more passing and shooting.  Not to mention having fun doing so.  Everyone is on the same page.  The forwards are challenging and winning the puck battles and the defense is controlling the blue line in the offensive end and easing the pressure of the goalies.  The goalies are playing with complete focus and have the determination to keep all away.

Maclane Stringle played and exceptional game and kept the STARS in the game to the end buzzer getting the 0-0 tie.  Maclane endeavored and outplayed every Aeros’s forward that came near the net.  He stopped breakaways by coming out and challenging the shooter and warded off the penalty kills.

Defensive partners; Colton Wiacek, Jeffery Carr and Josh Niles, Mike Roth and James Martin, Evan Clarke made sure this game was going to stay in a tie as they wrapped up all Oakridge’s forwards.  They blocked shots and kept the pressure up sealing up the blue line.

Ryan Bonter came back from a sickness and stepped back in net to play an outstanding game for the STARS.  Ryan knew this was a grudge match and had to step it up for the team.  The Hawks defeated the STARS in an earlier tournament game and they wanted revenge.  Ryan made the saves look easy with a catch here and a pad save there.  Ryan steered pucks away and controlled the rebounds to aggravate the Hawks players.

Jack Pigram, James Martin were rushing to the West London end forcing the play and keeping the early pressure in the offensive zone.  Ethan Miron got the STARS going when he picked up the rebound from the wing and shattered one to the back of the net.  Kyle Wiebe and Ethan Georgijev had the Hawks scrambling as they kept rushing the net and passing to the open wings.  Keavan Milmine got 2 on the day.  One goal from the side of the net as he flipped a high shot to sail over the goalie’s shoulder and the other when he picked up the rebound shots of Jayce Smith and Brennen Smith.  Hunter Nurse broke into the slot and wristed a fluttering shot to the top corner to increase the STARS lead.

The penalty kill of the STARS was a complete success and a momentum builder for the TEAM.  The STARS boys not only killed off the penalties but were forcing the play in the Hawks end.  The ST THOMAS MINOR ATOM STARS are really starting to rely and hold complete confidence in their TEAMMATES by looking for the open man and completing pass after pass.  The STARS skating is faster and their passion to play and have fun is starting to pay off in results on the ice.  The game is exciting and the STARS FANS are cheering along with every  play.

GREAT WEEK BOYS!!!

GO STARS!!!
