Twas a game before Christmas, when all through the rink
ST THOMAS NOVICE STARS played with heart and soul that no fan wanted to blink.
With sticks all in hand on Port Stanley’s rink the team was ready to have some fun,
the boys beat the Lakers 5-1 and said we won.

Mike Roth was nestled all snug in the penalty box,
While visions of a penalty kill had Evan Clarke playing smart as a fox.
And James Martin on left and Alex Popen on right,
Had just settled the play for a long period on the white.

When out on the wing there arose such a clatter,
Brady DeDecker sprang from the boards to see what was the matter.
Away to the net they flew like a flash,
Tore apart the goalie and Brennen Smith had a goal in a dash.

Behind their goalie the red light on the ice below
Gave Brennen Smith another to add to the show.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Hunter Nurse making some sweet passes that Port Stanley had to fear.

With a little old coach, that was a really feisty gent,
I knew in a moment it must be Coach Brent.
More rapid than STARS his forwards they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Play hard Jayce Smith, battle on Jack Pigram!
Let your skates fly, win the battle to get us out of this jam!”
To the end of the ice! To the top of the goal!
They all played with heart and a whole lot of soul.

As the game’s period 2 played against the Lakers,
It was a hard fought time, and the refs were the play breakers.
So up to the scoreboard the eyes of the spectators flew,
With the score being 3-1 as the second period whistle blew.

As the third period began, I saw in the goal
The great butterfly moves of Ryan Bonter covering the five hole.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the wing Ethan Miron and Brennan Bradley came with a bound.

Coleton Robison-Sareh headed straight for the net,
It’s going to be a great play, I had to bet.
A bundle of shots they had fired on their sticks,
And they scored more as Port Stanley’s goalie fell like a ton of bricks.

The TEAM played with great pressure to be so merry!
And it was three for Keavan Milmine to bury!
As the defense kept the puck from crossing the blue,
Cheering from the fans were all they had to do.

The ST THOMAS NOVICE STARS held tight on the last play,
When the game was finally over it was Maclane Stringle cheering – hurray.
With the NOVICE STARS missing players; Josh Niles and Colton Wiacek,
All the team new they had to come to the attack!

The NOVICE STARS sprang to their goalie; Ryan Bonter as the ref blew his whistle,
And away they all flew down the ice like a missile.
But I heard them exclaim, ‘ere they skated out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

The NOVICE STARS team wishes you and yours “Merry Christmas” and the best of luck in the New Year.

Cheers
