International Silver Stick Champions... Again
The U18A St. Thomas Stars completed their journey to become International Silver Stick Champions with a win over the Cambridge Hawks 3-2.

It was a long road for the U18 Stars and the coaches from the beginning. The ability to compete in the regional tournament and win against teams such as Kent and Strathroy was a feat in itself.

The draw for the International Finals was no different. Paired with the top ranked teams (New Hamburg and Cambridge) it came down to math and luck to achieve the 2nd seed within the division. After losing a heartbreaker to New Hamburg 4-3, it was up to the young men to bounce back. Down 2-0 with minutes left, the Stars scored 3 unanswered goals to secure the 3-2 victory over Cambridge. The final game versus Woodbridge Wolfpack would have to be a blowout loss to separate ourselves from the 3rd place team. A 9-1 victory and a Cambridge win over New Hamburg 5-0 secured our seed.

The semi-final game Vs. Collingwood Blues started off in our favor burying 5 unanswered before the 3rd period. The final being 5-1 secured our spot in the finals.

Cambridge beat their opponent 6-1 to get their redemption against us in the finals. Unfortunately for them, we were ready. Starting strong with a 2 goal lead and a nearly perfect performance from start to finish, the boys completed the quest by winning 3-2.

Thanks to all of the parents and players for your endless support and hard work through this process. It is not easy to win the Silver Stick let alone win it back to back. So hats off the the previous coaching staff for setting the pace for these young men. Job done. 1 more job to go.
