With tryouts less then a month away, I wanted to pass along some information about trying out for Bantam A this season and what the coaches will be looking for when selecting players.
Players should show up for tryouts in good physical condition including proper endurance. While we understand summer provides an opportunity for many hockey players to relax and enjoy some down time, tryouts are not the time to “get in shape”. Skilled players who are not properly prepared may not achieve their intended results.
Ideal players will demonstrate good conditioning and endurance as well as developed core skills including skating and puck control and movement. Commitments to improving their core skills and to the team’s systems are an asset. Equally, a player’s coachability and how they interact with teammates on and off the ice are also characteristics the coaching staff will be looking for.
STMHA guarantees a minimum of 2 tryouts for all players and I’m sure there will be some difficult choices. I would like to wish all the players good luck during the tryout process. All information regarding tryouts including player selections will be posted on this website.
