Close Game With Junior Knights
Last night the boys took on the first place London Junior Knights and lost 4-2.

For the first time this season the St. Thomas Junior Stars Midget A team had their full roster.  Welcome back Josh.  A solid game by Stars against one of the tougher opponents in our league.  The first period ended in a 0-0 tie with both teams limited to very few scoring chances and most of the play being played in the neutral zone.  As the game wore on the and a few powerplay chances the Knights got on the board first on a powerplay goal midway through the second.  The Knights continued to chip away and score a couple more to make it 3-0 before the Stars attempted to comeback on the stingy Knights.  With less than 5 minutes in the game a nice pass from Jesse Tottle to the pinching defenceman Dane Jacoletti who pounded in the quick release bar down goal to break the egg on the scoreboard.  A few minutes later a shorthanded stretch pass to Derek Folkard went in alone and lifted the back hand over the shoulder of the Knights goalie to make it a one goal game.  The Stars pulled the goalie in the last 40 seconds of the game and had troubles controlling the zone and eventually gave up an empty netter to make the final 4-2.

Although the result was a loss it was a solid game that should pump them up for a weekend tournament in Fort Erie that starts this Friday.  The Stars have two games on Friday and another Saturday afternoon and hopefully advancing to the playoffs on Saturday night and Sunday.  Good Luck Stars!!!!

Three other games to highlight sine the last update had its highs and lows.  The first of these was a game against Sarnia who waxed our boys in the first game of the season 7-1, was much better this time but still a loss with the final being 3-2.  The game was a little tense with a referee issue early in the game but it quickly settled down to be a well played game by both sides.  St. Thomas goals went to TJ Turley and Jesse Tottle.

Our next game against the Woodstock Navy Vets was a one we would like to forget.  A midweek classic that clearly the boys couldn't wait for the end.  They awarded Woodstock their first victory of the year in a 7-4 loss.  St. Thomas goals went to Ryan Vandenbroek (2), Jesse Tottle and Woody with the buzzer beater.  Robert Shaw contributed with 2 assists.

The Stars took to the road to Brantford after a tough loss to Woodstock and came home with a victory 3-1.  St. Thomas scored in all 3 periods, Andrew Wood powerplay in the first, Ryan Vandenbroek powerplay in the second and an even strength marker in the third.  Greyson Tottle in net and was 43 seconds away from a shut-out in a solid outing for the Stars.
