Petrolia
What do you do after a 14-2 loss in the season opener? Well you roll in to Petrolia and put in 11 of our own and cruise to a nice rebound 11-1 win. We had 10 different players score goals, and every line contributed to the offensive explosion.

I usually like to break down the game goal by goal, but I find myself in the wonderful position of having too many to recall properly. Our goal scorers were Tyler Lewis, Rhett Devries 2, Owen Wookey, Tyler Johnston, Jared Parkin, Liam Armstrong, Ethan Bradley, Lucas Glanville, Zach Mertick, and Carter Stephens. Many of these goals were started from the back end with our Dmen sending the forwards away to the races. The assists went to Owen Wookey 2, Nathan Mezenberg 2, Tyler Johnston, Hudson Mercer 2, Carter Stephens 2, Jared Parkin, and Ethan Georgijev. Ethan Giles got the win in net, and although he was not terribly busy, still had to make some great saves when we had some defensive breakdowns.

I could see during pregame warmups that Petrolia was a young team with many kids that are new to competitive hockey. It was a game that we should have won, and the boys really made this one look easy. I'm sure they had some pent up frustration after getting run over the day before, but kids have short memories and it did not seem to have too bad an effect on our confidence level. Most of our boys have never won a game in this arena, so it feels good to scratch one off of the bucket list. There are a few more rinks that I have my sights set on where we have gone 0 and 57, and we have a real chance this year to change our fortunes in those arenas too.

It was a solid team effort from start to finish, and I'm glad the boys were able to recover so quickly after the Port Stanley game. It would have been a long week sitting on that loss, and getting back on the horse right away was exactly what the doctor ordered.
