Heartbreaker in St. Mary's
3 - 2 loss not indicative of the game!
After a bit of slow start St. Thomas Jr. Stars started to dominate most of the play. St. Mary's, on the strength of one kid, managed to jump out to a 2 - 0 lead in the second. Our Novice Jr. Stars kept taking the play to them and with 7 minutes left in the 3rd tied up the score 2 - 2. Things were looking good with the momentum going our way. St. Mary's mounted a push right after the tying goal which we weathered and then we continued to play in their end for the final few minutes.
Unfortunately, with about 28 seconds left, St. Mary's cleared the zone and ended up in our end with a break away from inside the blue line which resulted in the winning goal.
Very proud of how well our team played and that they never got down or gave up. We battled all game coming from 2 down to tie it in the third. A real good effort by the entire team!
Way to go Stars!
A win in my books!
And thanks to the many fans who were on hand in St. Mary's to cheer us on.
