since the Christmas break, the hockey gods have not smiled upon our STARS. Timely goaltending and great efforts from all skaters has not been reflected on the score sheet.
Jan. 8-9, In the London Blue and White Tourney.
Jan. 14, we travelled to Bothwell, Dominated the first period and fell flat in the 2nd & 3rd periods. we skated away with a 2-2 tie. Rhett socred twice with assists going to Darryn, Joseph & Dylan.
Jan. 15, we hosted St. Mary's, played to a 1-1 tie after the second period but could not keep pace with St. Mary's, falling 4-2. Goals by Dylan & Joseph, assists to Joseph and Ryan Farrell (2).
Jan. 21, opening date for our OMHA playdowns, our boys skated hard for three periods, deserved the win but left Elmira on the wrong side of a 3-1 score. Our goaltending was strong, our boys should be proud, they never quit.
Jan. 22, Woolwich came to town for game 2 of the OMHA playdowns, we had a strong game, killing off a 2 man advantage for a minute forty in the 2nd period. In the third period, we again saw a team meeting in the sin bin, but this time we could not hold off the pesky Woolwich team. Our STARS did not fold but pressed to the final buzzer but fell short by one goal. Keep your head high boys, you are playing great hockey.
Jan. 23, we travelled to Strathroy to play a Shamrock game against My. Brydges. Our STARS opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Dylan, with assists from Nik & Joseph. Both teams skated hard but Mt. Brydges tied the game 1-1 in the 2nd period. Both teams scored in the third period to end the spirited match tied at 2-2. Nik scored with the assist going to Jack.
