Minor Atoms return to the win column!!
Game 4 saw our guys facing the Stratford Warriors at home on Saturday.  Eager to shake a two game losing skid, the Minor Atoms battled to a 4 goal lead before a 3rd period burst by Stratford and managed to hang on for a 5-3 victory and a well deserved return to the win column.

Our newly formed line of Harrison B. between Connor E. and Drake H. took the opening face off and lead the way to a cautious start by our boys.  Not wanting to fall behind, we played a defensive, back and forth game against Stratford with very few shots on net for either team during the first half of the period.  Midway through, Russell O. won an offensive zone face off by drawing the puck back to a ready and waiting Luka D. who quickly fired a shot on net that beat the Warriors goalie to score his first of the season, and our first of the game.  The relief that first goal gave our team could be heard all along the bench.  Right back to the attack, Russell O. won the ensuing face off before splitting their defense, cruising into the Warriors zone all alone and netting our second goal just 0:09 later.

Into the 2nd with a two goal lead, Devon K. added his first of the season after picking up a loose puck in front of Stratford's net and depositing it in the open side.  Now up by three, the Minor Atoms began to find their usual form and while adding to our chances, limiting the Warriors to only a few shots throughout the period.  Midway through the period, Miles V. tallied our fourth with the helpers going to Tristan C. and Harrison B.

Starting the 3rd with a 4-0 lead, we appeared to let our guard down, and Stratford back into the game.  Spoiling Taylor H.'s shutout bid less then 2:00 into the frame, Stratford managed two more to rally for 3 and to make it an interesting final period.  Fortunately, Russell O. recorded his second of the day earlier in the period to put the game out of reach for the Warriors and post our 2nd win of the season with a 5-3 final.

Well done everyone, and an excellent team effort.  Keep up the great work!!
