Jr. Stars stay undefeated in Exhibition play!!
Submitted By tmacmillan on Mon 10 18, 10
The Minor Atom Jr. Stars took a break from league play on Saturday and enjoyed an exhibition game against the Port Stanley Lakers.  St. Thomas, scoring twice in each period , doubled up Port Stanley for a 6-3 victory and extended their exhibition winning streak to four games in a row this season.

St. Thomas opened the scoring mid-way through the 1st period on a goal from Russell O., assists going to Connor E. and Chase C.  Harrison B.'s continued hard work at both ends of the ice and determination for the puck finally paid off as he notched his first of the season with 1:20 remaining, the lone assist going to Brad V.  Port Stanley struck just :20 seconds later to round out the scoring in the 1st.

Less then 3:00 into the 2nd, Port Stanley tallied again to tie the score at 2-2.  Not to be outdone, Tyler M. put St. Thomas ahead again 1:00 later with the helpers going to Brad V. and Luka D.  With less then 4:00 remaining, Russell O. netted his second of the day, unassisted, which stood up to be game winner.

Onto the 3rd, with just a little more then half the period remaining, the Lakers scored to get within one and begin their comeback rally.  Beginning to find confidence on the wing,  the Jr. Stars' Drake H. beat the Lakers goalie high over the glove, twice, to put the game out of reach for Port Stanley and secure our fourth straight exhibition game victory.  Tyler M. and Connor E. added assists on Drakes H.'s first, the 2nd was unassisted.

Well done boys, a much better effort by all.  Continue your hardwork and team play!!!

A rematch is already scheduled for December 17 at the JLC and should be an exciting one as I'm sure the Lakers will be looking to even the score.
