Midget AE Stars take 4-0 lead
The Maxwell's Cameras/Ansell's Awards defeated LaSalle 4-3 to take a 4-0 lead in points in their opening round of the OMHA playdowns. Ryan Gilson scored early for the visiting Jr. Stars with Brad Holder and Cody Gooding adding two more to give the Stars a 3-1 lead after the first period. LaSalle scored the only goal of the second period to draw within one but Garrett Nudds regained the two goal lead for St. Thomas in the third period. With ten minuted remaining LaSalle again drew within one but Josh Peckham held the fort and shut LaSalle out to give St. Thomas the win. Peckham put in a strong game for St. Thomas with Cody Gooding also putting in a strong performance. Game three is Sunday, January 31 at the Memorial arena at 12:30 p.m.
