Parents, Coaches and Player Info - IP Starts this Saturday!
Parents, Coaches and Player Info

As STMHA is 99% run by volunteers we will utilize our website to communicate any further information.

Here is some helpful info.

Coaches :  The first practice will be planned and run by STMHA  Director of Development Troy Carlson. He will be on ice the first season with the teams coaches and assistants to provide additional information on how the program works.

Parents : Please have your players ready to go for the start of practice.  This can be a very chaotic time.
Just a quick reminder of the things that are needed for the first day
  -Hockey Socks,
  -Water Bottle with water,
-Mouth Guard (fitted to the players Mouth)
PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE WITHOUT A MOUTH GUARD
  -Full hockey equipment (with Skates),
-A taped Hockey Stick cut to the proper height, and
-A back-up jersey (In case our Jersey’s are not ready for Saturday)

Team Lists will be posted on the dressing room doors to get you to your teams room.  As indicated the IP program is not a learn to skate program so your player should be able to get up off the ice on their own and move around a bit. We simply don't have the volunteer resources to have 1 on 1 coaches.  Our ratio works out to about 1 coach for every 5 players.

The practice and game schedules are  posted and updated on our website. This is how we communicate. You will note that there are some weekends that there is no hockey.  This is what we call " Black outs"

BLACK-OUT WEEKENDS

Each May St.Thomas Minor Hockey submits to the City of St.Thomas an ice time request for the up coming season.   As we are not the only user group the City sets aside, and does not allow us to book ice time on certain weekends. This ice time is set aside to allow for tournaments, events, etc.  These are what we call Black-Out Weekends.  You will find that through-out the season there will be weekends where there will be no Development Review/Game Day sessions due to these Black-outs.  This ice time has not been taken awayfrom the program, it was simply never our ice time in the first place.  These “Black-outs” are taken into consideration at the start of the session when the schedule is made to ensure each team receives their full allotment of ice time.

BLACK OUT DATES

October 21-23 – STMHA Major Tournament

November 3-6 – Figure Skating Competition

November 18-20 – STMHA AE Tournament

December 2-4 – Panther’s Tournament
