Bantam A Jr. Stars Are Garden City Early Bird Champs!
Submitted By Brian Masschaele on Mon 09 16, 19
The 2005 Bantam A Jr. Stars headed to the Niagara Region September 13 to 15, 2019 dressed for success and it showed on the ice as they came away champions.

Preliminary round wins against TNT Tornados, Garden City Falcons and Oakville Rangers Red (all shutouts) secured the boys first place in their pool.  Round robin play ended with a 3-0 loss to Halton Hills Thunder which set up a re-match in the semi-finals with the Thunder where the boys did not disappoint, coming out hard and securing a 5-1 win.   The final saw them play the undefeated Metcalfe Jets.  It was a physical and fast-paced game but the Stars took the lead in the second period and never looked back, going on to a 3-0 victory to bring home the championship.  The team outscored their opposition 22 to 4, with four shutouts along the way.

The team would like to thank the tournament organizers for all their hard work in organizing a great weekend.  Congratulations to Coach Rob Richardson, Assistant coaches Jordan Babb and Aidan McCullough and trainer Marc Vaughan for their first tournament win with this group, hopefully a sign of great things to come!
