Dowler Karn Novice A Jr Stars take Essex Earlybird in OT
During the player meeting at the start of the season, the Dowler Karn
Novice A Jr. Stars and coaching staff marked down the teams goals for
the season and the motto
they all felt best represented this team in the season ahead.
One of the goals - to win a tournament. The team motto - The Team, The
Team, The Team.
The Jr. Stars checked off one of those goals this weekend by going undefeated after a 4-3 win in overtime over the Riverside Rangers to claim The 38th Annual Essex Early Bird Tournament Championship. "This was a great weekend! This really was a full team effort. We had balanced scoring, relentless back checking, tough defense and outstanding goaltending. It took everyone to win this weekend and that is exactly what we got. The Team, The Team, The Team." said Head Coach Andrew Power.
The Jr. Stars started off on the right foot Friday afternoon with a hard fought 4-3 win over the host team Essex Ravens. On Saturday the Jr. Stars had two more victories, a 5-2 win over Riverside Rangers and a 13-0 win over the Amherstburg Stars to claim 1st overall in the round robin. On Sunday the Jr. Stars had a 6-1 win over the Erie North Shore Storm in the semi finals before the 4-3 OT victory over Riverside in the finals to claim the title.
