Stars Turn Skid Around with Home Cookin'
Submitted By bkidder on Fri 10 19, 12
The Novice A team started last weekend out on the road in Petrolia.  Saturdays contest did not go in the Stars favor as they came away with a 6-1 loss at the hands of the Oilers.  Fortunately, they were able to turn the tide of a four game skid at home on Sunday against the St Mary's Rock.  The home team rolled to a 4-3 victory to close out the weekend.

Petrolia were able to grab their first win of the season from the Stars on Saturday in a 6-1 contest.  The Oilers were hungry for a win and they battled the entire game to get one.  The high point for the Stars came off Aiden Holders tally in the second period when he slammed a rebound home in a goal mouth scramble.

Mikey Devine was in the cage for the Stars and stopped 17 on 23 shots.

On Sunday the Stars managed to find their stride.  The team started the game with energy and continued to outwork the visiting Rock for the first half of the game.  Matthew Carr went hard to the net and slapped a Liam Kidder rebound home to get things started for the Stars near the 5 minute mark of the first period.  Trent Rickwood fired one in :14 seconds into the middle period assisted by Aiden Holder and Brandon Morphy.  Aiden Holder buried another goal unassisted at 3:03 of the second to put the Stars in control 3-0.

St. Mary's battled back hard with 2 goals in the final 1:42 of the second period to pull within a goal of St. Thomas before Aiden Holder fired in the eventual game winner at 7:04 assisted by Trent Rickwood.  St. Mary's pulled their goalie late in the 3rd and found the net to pull with in a goal but the game finished 4-3 for the Stars.

Anderson Walker faced 15 shots in the net for the Stars.

The Stars are back in action the weekend of the 19th a the St. Thomas Major Tournament.  Come out and support the boys!
