Great Weekend for Tyke Select 7
The St. Thomas Jr. Stars Select 7 Team had a busy and very productive weekend. The weekend began on a low note Friday with several team members and coaching staff absent from practice with the flu.

However when Saturday night came around you wouldn't have know it when the Stars took the ice against the Dorchester Dragons for a rematch at the East Elgin Community Centre. Despite some stellar play in the 1st period the Jr. Stars started the second period down 1-0. The Stars kept up the pressure in the second and third periods and were too much for the Dragons to handle. The Stars outscored Dorchester 2-0 in the second period with goals from Ryan Miron and Kenny "The Masher" Masschaele (A. Jack Smith) and scored 2 more in the third period with markers from Josh Vandenburghe (A. Clarke Sandham) and Torin Rose (A. Will O'Brien) skating to a 4-2 win over the Dragons. Goaltender Coby Binks had a stellar game between the pipes stopping a lot of scoring chances in dramatic fashion.

Sunday morning brought much of the same as the Jr. Stars faced off against a new opponent, the Lambeth Lancers. Jack Zylstra started off the scoring in the first with a goal @ 4:16 (A. Will O'Brien) and the Stars never looked back. Josh Vandenburghe added a second goal in the first with only 3 seconds left on the clock (A. Will O'Brien). Trent Clinton bulged the twine in the second (A. Torin Rose) and "The Masher" Kenny Masschaele sealed the deal with an unassisted break away in the third. Riley "Tappy"  Legacy had a great game for the Stars in goal stopping over 20 shots on net allowing only one goal to help the Jr. Stars to a 4-1 win over the Lancers.

The Coaching Staff was very impressed with this weekends play and is very proud of the squad. GREAT WORK GUYS!
