1st Game of the Season
The St. Thomas Stars Select 7 team played their first game of the season Friday night against the Dorchester Dragons in Aylmer @ the East Elgin Community Centre. The team was very excited to test their skills. They have been practicing hard for the last few weeks and were very anxious to see how they would stack up against the opposition.

The Stars came out flying. With a combination of hard skating and forechecking they controlled most of the play. The hard work paid-off just over 2 minutes in when Justin Babcock scored assisted by Jack Smith to make it one nothing. Trent Clinton scored a little over a minute later to make it 2 and Will O'Brien added a third 1st period goal by banging in a Torin Rose rebound with 1 second left on the clock.

The second period the Stars slowed slightly and took a few  tripping penalties as a result. The Dragons netted a Power Play Goal to make it 3-1but if it wasn't for some stellar goaltending by both Riley (Tappy) Legacy and Coby (Jar-Jar) Binks things could have been a closer.

In the third the Stars regained control of the game and played a great period of hockey. Justin Babcock scored his second of the game at 7:55 (Will O'Brien assisted) to make it 4-1and put the game out of reach for the Dragons. Collectively the Stars played a great game. The defence was great holding the Dragons to the one PP goal. The goaltending was superb together making timely saves and the offence was relentless creating turnovers and crashing the net.

The coaching staff was impressed with the hustle and team play in their 1st game of the season. Congratulations to the Team and keep up the great work!
