MINOR ATOM TEAM HAS SOME FUN IN WINDSOR AND THEN GETS BACK TO REGULAR SEASON BUSINESS WINNING AT HOME
The ST THOMAS MINOR ATOM TEAM was invited to play an exhibition game in Windsor on the weekend by Erie North Shore Storm.  The MINOR ATOM TEAM would like to thank the boys from Erie North Shore and the coaching staff for giving us this opportunity to play against them.  Special thanks to Jen, Gary and Ken for all your hard work and organization of the event.

The ST THOMAS MINOR ATOM STARS TEAM won the exhibition game 4-2 against Erie North Shore Storm at the home of the Windsor Spitfires the WFCU Centre.  The boys then had a great dinner in the community room and got a chance to interact with the Erie North Shore players.  After dinner the boys got to stay and watch the Spitfires come back from a 0-4 deficit to win the game 6-5.

After the late night the MINOR ATOM STARS got back to game form to beat the Brantford 99ers 3-2 at home.  Ryan Bonter had a stellar performance in net.  Ryan made a quick side to side slide to come back from the far post to block the wrap around attempt that would have tied the game.  Ryan made another great glove save as the puck was going to the high side but the fast hand sprang up and he juggled the puck into the pocket of his glove.

The STARS found themselves down by 1 early in the first and it stayed that way thru the second period as both teams had equal play and opportunities at both ends of the ice.  KUDOS to the defensive play of Mike Roth, Josh Niles, Colton Wiacek, Evan Clarke and Jeff Carr as they frustrated the play of the 99ers and kept them from coming in and gaining control of the game.  Getting the MINOR ATOM STARS even in the start of the third Keavan Milmine received a pass out from behind the net from Hunter Nurse.  Keavan wristed the shot up and over and the STARS were determined to get another.  A few minutes later on a line change Hunter then fed a cross ice pass over to Colton Wiacek.  Colton then sped down the wing, evading and splitting the 99ers defense and barreled to the net and pocketed the go ahead goal.  Getting the game winning goal that had the Brantford 99ers scrambling on the ice, Jack Pigram received the pass from Kyle Wiebe who battled for the puck along the boards, won and sent Jack in.  Jack knifed the puck slicking it into the open side of the net.  The STARS kept the pressure up, but Brantford got one of their own to come close.  With time winding down the 99ers pulled their goalie to try to even it up, but the ST THOMAS STARS were having no part of them getting to our net.

GREAT JOB BOYS!!!

GO STARS!!!!
