The Stars battled...but fell short.

One of these days everything is going to come together.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Patience is a virtue.
A war isn't won in one battle.

Pick a cliche if you will. The Stars entered their home tournament in need of a bit of luck. One could say you create your own luck, but the hockey gods can't frown forever when it comes to this team. Can they?

It looked like a good start to the weekend as the Stars battled tooth and nail with the Sabres from Flamborough to open the tourney with a 3-3 draw. A win would have been nice, but a tie was nothing to scowl at.

Saturday morning wasn't very sunny inside or out of the Timken Center. There was a storm in the air. A Cyclone in fact. Little did the Stars know they were dead in the path of it. The Hamilton Cyclones blew into town on a mission. Three periods later the Stars were left in the rubble of a 7-0 blow out. It was time to regroup.

Saturday evening saw the rematch of the opener of the Grimsby Fall Classic. South Point stole one from the Stars in that one and the Stars were looking to enact a little revenge of their own. Win and they were into Sunday. The battle was for every inch of ice. The Stars left everything in the rink. Trailing 2-1 late in the 3rd with the goalie pulled, the weekend came to a sour end as the Caps sealed the deal with an empty netter to take it 3-1.

All in all not a bad weekend, but there is still some elbow grease needed to bring a shine to this team. A little rough around the edges still. It's there in glimpses. Now the chore is to get it there every shift, every minute, every game.
