Atom Stars Thanksgiving Champs
The Major Atom Stars took the cup at the Peterborough Thanksgiving Tournament going 5 - 0 and only giving up one goal all weekend . Congratulations to all the boys on the big win !!!
The first game of the tourney saw the boys defeating Hamilton Blizzard 8 - 0 after the long drive up friday . Saturday morning we faced a tougher Clarington team , first period was scoreless with chances both ways . They came alive in the 2nd and 3rd winning 5 - 0 . The final round robin game was another win 4 - 1 against Oakville .
We drew the home peterborough team for the semis , outshooting them 35 - 3 they came away with a 5 - 0 win . Needless to say we kept their goalies busy !!
As we expected Clarington would be the opponent for the final . They came out very tough and ready for battle . With 8 min remaining in the third we took a 1 - 0 lead . They pulled the goalie with just over a minute remaining only to see our stars put it away with an empty-netter ! 2 - 0 final !!!
Over the 5 games we out - scored opponents 24 - 1 !!!!! Congrats to all the boys on a great weekend .
