Tanner Turley

U14 A/AA Alliance Seeded

St. Thomas Jr Stars

Introduction:

My name is Tanner Turley. I have been a coach in St. Thomas for over 8 years, both as an assistant and Head Coach for U16, U18 and U13 age groups. I grew up playing in the STMHA system from U7 – U18 and went on to play Jr. C in Port Stanley for 4 years. My passion for playing and coaching hockey drives my coaching style and focuses on the development of players both on and off the ice. I believe we as hockey players should strive for excellence on the ice, but the values of hard work and dedication will set us up for success in the community as people, the classroom as students and eventually as employees in the workplace. I hope to inspire my players to be the best version of themselves and highlight a future progression in hockey as well as an environment that promotes fun, competitiveness and a desire for personal development

Philosophy:
My staff and I are here to make the kids and their teammates better as hockey players and people.
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision;

The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives;
And the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.
Time is too valuable to waste on attitude; selfishness will not be tolerated.

Expectations:
PlayersPractice Hard, Play Hard, and always carry a Positive Attitude

Always Support Each Other; Play every shift as if it’s your Last - Ice time is earned

Put the team first and buy into the systems and tactics discussed throughout the year

Have Fun!

Coaching Staff—For this upcoming season, I intend to continue evolving player development and adding more theory-based team systems and tactics (Power Play, Penalty Kills, Offensive and Defensive Sets, etc.). This will include playbook study sessions, video reviews, and off-ice training. It is important to fully commit to the programming before committing to a tryout.

Each player will receive a mid- and year-end scouting report card and an individual video session on specific ways to improve and advance to the next level of hockey they envision for themselves.

Team—My vision for the upcoming season is to play a high-paced, high-energy, puck-possession game with a team-first mentality that will allow the team to succeed throughout the season and into the playoffs.

Tryouts are open to ALL PLAYERS; no decisions will be made before participants' on-ice evaluations

During tryouts, each player will have a fair opportunity to showcase their abilities before making any selections.  To ensure an unbiased selection process, there will be multiple non-parent evaluators present at each skate to allow all players to be viewed equitably.
