As discussed in the spring parent meeting our team will be running regular weekly Dryland training plus mental toughness work. These sessions are not optional and are just as essential as on ice practice, even if your kid is training at home regularly.
These sessions will allow the boys to work together, develop trust, strength and grit that will flow out into their on ice performance and their day to day activities. Our Dryland Training sessions come at no cost to the team unlike many other teams.
We will Start at 6pm, and I will keep the boys til 8pm this year as we will do both physical and mental work to get them in the groove this season.
Mondays following tournaments will have a mobility and recovery focus.
Until the Snow flies we will meet in the parking lot of THE JOE for dryland and if nice enough do the other mental toughness work we will stay out there too. But I will also look at the media room for brain training or Mental coaching as Matt puts it.
I ask that the boys dress appropriately in layers, and bring both a water bottle and a snack. I will review expectations with them at the first few sessions.
For the "mental Training" we will be discussing the following this season: goal setting, visualization, positive self and team talk, how to have and maintain GRIT, and working on weaknesses that we see come up in the team's confidence and motivation. We will also slot in video review during these times to add to the visualization work
