Boston Pizza Major Atom Stars Meet the Vancouver Canucks
Submitted By Brad Clinton on Tuesday, November 17, 2015
The Boston Pizza Major Atom A Stars ventured to Buffalo for the Harbor Center Cup November 6th to 8th where they played some of the top AA teams in North America.

Once again, the group proved that they are more than capable of playing beyond their A status, going all the way to the semi-finals before losing a tough game to eventual tournament champions Oakland (Michigan) Grizzlies, despite outplaying them for much of the game.  Along with way, the boys knocked off Amherst (NY) and highly touted Compuware out of Detroit, while also tying the Pittsburgh Predators.

The highlight of the weekend was clearly a meeting with Elgin County’s own and former St. Thomas Star, Bo Horvat, now of the Vancouver Canucks.  The Canucks were in town to play the Sabres.  Bo signed autographs and took a photo with each of the boys, as did head coach Willie Desjardins.   Several other Canucks players, including the Sedin twins, signed autographs for the boys as well. The team wishes to thank Bo’s dad (Tim) for setting this up.

It may not have been the result the team wanted but lifelong memories were still made.  Once again, this group proved that they know how to punch above their weight!
