TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!!
Over the weekend the St. Thomas Auto Guys Major Atom Jr. Stars competed in the St Thomas Major Tournament and came away as tournament champions.

The tournament started out on Friday with a well played 2-0 victory over the North London Nationals.  The Stars played a consistent game and managed to shut out the Nationals.

Game 2 was Saturday morning versus the Fort Erie Meteors.  The Stars controlled the play for two and half periods but could only manage 1 goal.  Fort Erie mounted some pressure in the last five minutes and managed to tie the game up.  The game ended in 1-1 tie.

Game 3 was up Saturday night and the Stars needed to win to advance to the final.  The Oakland Grizzlies from Michigan stood in the way.  The game was slow starting and a big glove save seemed to motivate the Stars.  The Stars started to pass back to the point and the defense blasted away at the Grizzlies keeper.  The forwards did a great job screening and tipping shots and goals starting going in from everywhere.  The Stars finished the game 8-1 winners and advanced to the finals.

Sunday brought the finals and another matchup against the North London Nationals.  The first five minutes of the game the Stars played perfect hockey and showcased some extremely impressive puck movement and roared out to a 3-0 lead.  The Nationals didn't seem to recover and the Stars never looked back and won the game 5-2.

The coaching staff is extremely proud of the team and their accomplishment.  The boys showed great effort and focus all weekend and they deserved to be champions.  Congratulations Stars!!
