Midget A ('95-'97), U16-U18 Travel, 2012-2013 (St. Thomas Minor Hockey)

With a 3-2 road victory over the North London Nationals on Sunday afternoon, the St. Thomas Midget Jr. Stars will be riding a nifty three game win streak heading into the preliminary tournament of the O.M.H.A. playdowns next weekend at Riverside.  Backed by the steady, and often spectacular goaltending of Dan Black, the Jr. Stars remained undefeated in the calendar year of 2013 and appear to be peaking at just the right time. The St. Thomas Midget Jr. Stars were glad to see the end of 2012, as they finished the year with four straight losses to three teams below them in the Alliance standings.  However, after a lengthy layoff during the holiday season, the Midget Jr. Stars were able to shake off the rust and open 2013 with renewed vigour, not to mention the return of Keaton McIntyre, which resulted in a sweep of an important weekend home and home series with the London Jr. Knights this past weekend. 

Thanks to some superior goaltending, solid defensive play and a couple of lucky bounces, the St. Thomas Midget Jr. Stars managed to come away with a split of their two games this past weekend.  Despite being dramatically outshot, Jesse Tottle's hat trick coupled with several timely saves by brother Greyson, allowed the Stars to escape with a 4-2 win against the Jr. Sting in Sarnia on Saturday afternoon.  The scenario repeated itself on Sunday afternoon at the Timken Centre in St. Thomas, but the offense could not capitalize on their opportunities, and an empty-netter sealed their fate as Jr. ...

The St. Thomas Midget Jr. Stars struggled mightily with their offensive production this past weekend at the Capitals Cup Challenge Tournament in Leamington, Ontario.  Scoring has been the Stars' Achilles Heel almost the entire season, but nowhere has it been more evident that this past weekend.  The Jr. Stars were only able to muster a meagre two goals in their three round-robin games.  No matter how solid their goaltending may have been on the weekend, the age-old adage still holds true....it is very hard to win games when you don't score.  

After being offensive weaklings for most of the season, and especially last weekend, the St. Thomas Midget Jr. Stars finally flexed some offensive muscle this past week to take two out of three regular season games.  The week started off with a road trip to the dive Sarnia locals call the Clearwater Arena on Thursday night, where the Jr. Stars laid a complete beat-down on the Jr. Sting with a 7-0 shellacking.  St. Thomas returned home for an impressive 4-1 victory over the Stratford Culliton on Saturday afternoon before succumbing to the London Nationals 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
