Our Atom AE Stars opened the Shamrock League B finals against Mooretown Wednesday night at the Timken Centre. We have not been able to find a way to beat them yet this year, and that trend continued as we lost 3-0 to fall behind early in the series.
Not really much to write up about this one. We had a decent first two periods, had some chances, at times carried the play, but found ourselves down 2-0 going into the third. Mooretown got a flukey third goal on a point shot that hit a stick and floated up and over Rhett Devries, and our boys began to struggle after that. Rhett made some great saves for us to keep this one respectable, but unless we can find some goals, it's not going to matter much.
It is gut check time for the boys as we head to the unfriendly confines of Mooretown Arena Saturday for game 2, as we can not afford to go down 2-0 in the series. We must match their intensity, and start winning some battles for the puck if we hope to change our fortunes against this team. Get focused, be ready, and let's bring it Saturday boys!
