Stars Win U.S. Thanksgiving Tournament
The St. Thomas Minor PeeWee Junior Stars did a little cross-border shopping on the weekend when they won the gold medal at The Turkey Day Invitational in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
The Stars opened the tournament with a dominating 8-0 win over the Michigan Rink Rats. That was followed by two one-goal victories over Summit Plastics and the Port Huron Flags. On the strength of their undefeated round robin portion of the tournament, the Stars found themselves in the gold medal final in a re-match with Summit Plastics. With the hardware on the line, the Stars put together their best all round game of the season to eventually pull away to a 6-3 victory.
The victory in St. Clair Shores completed the Thanksgiving Sweep for the Minor PeeWee Stars as they had earlier won the Thanksgiving Tournament in Peterborough on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
