The PeeWee Stars played their best hockey of the season as they won both games this past weekend to win the Alliance "AA" Constellation Playoff Championship. Facing season-ending elimination in both games, the Stars demonstrated their determination, poise and new-found maturity to complete the comeback against a persistent London Jr. Knights team.

For the first half of their game against the London Knight on Thursday night, the PeeWee Stars lacked the focus, intelligence and determination that their fans had come to enjoy and expect during the Constellation Playoffs. As a result, they found themselves on the wrong end of 2-0 score at the Western Fair Arenas.

Two Stars Tie Series

On the Presstran rink, the PeeWee Stars survived a late scare but held on for a 5-3 victory Tuesday night at the Timken Centre to split the first two games of their Constellation Playoff Championship series against the London Jr. Knights. At the same time on the Walker rink, the Jr. B Stars were busy tying their semi-final series with the London Nationals at two games a piece.

The London Jr. Knights came away with a 2-1 victory in the opening game of the Constellation Playoff Championship series against the PeeWee Stars on Saturday night at the Nichols Arena, but they would be hard-pressed to convince anyone who witnessed the contest that their win was either convincing or well-earned.

Stars Earn Berth in Finals

The PeeWee Stars finally swatted away a very persistent and gritty Sting team on Tuesday night with a 4-2 victory in front of a standing room only crowd at the Timken Centre in St. Thomas. After losing the first two games of the series, Sarnia Sting showed tremendous heart by battling back against a clearly superior foe, to force game six of the six point series. Credit goes to the Sting coach Bill Adams for motivating his crew and especially to his goaltender Matt Szabo, who was clearly the MVP of the series in a losing cause.
