Farrell leads Midget AE with Shortie

Conner Farrell's shorthanded goal in the latter stages of the third period gave the Midget AE team a 2-1 victory over Petrolia. St Thomas carried the majority of the offensive play throughout the game, the Petrolia team put up an effective wall keeping the Stars off the scoresheet early.
The Stars came out on a high note hemming the visiting squad in their own zone for the first three minutes of the game. Fate would rear her ugly side as the Petrolia scored on their first shot of the game. Spencer Verkade did not relinquish another goal. Verkade had a very strong game. The scored remained 1-0 until midway point of the second when relentless forechecking by our "White Line" of Clayton Varney, Josh Chatten and call-up Taylor McArthur scored to tie the game off the stick of Varney. That set the stage for the Farrell heroics.
Next action for the Midget AE squad is Wednesday evening at the Timken Centre versus Lambton Shores. This will a re-match from October 26th game that ended in a 2-2 tie.
