The Bantam AE Stars Eliminated from the OMHA Playdowns
Submitted By marco valdez on Sunday, February 21, 2010
The Stars did everything they could do but it was not enough as they fell in game four against a very skilled Grimsby team with a final score of 4-2. With this, the Stars have been eliminated from the OMHA playdowns.

Following a loss 2-1 in St. Thomas and a tie 3-3 in Grimsby, the Stars hosted Grimsby in game 3 on Friday February 19. This meeting was all Grimsby and St. Thomas could do nothing to avoid a rather disastrous loss with a final score of 7-0.

On Saturday February 20, The Stars traveled to Grimsby for Game 4 to try to extend the series for one more game. This match was a lot more leveled. The Stars opened the scoreboard early in the game with a goal by #18 Brian Vanbelois assisted by #13 Chris Mikulinac and #5 Andrew Wood. Grimsby evened it up with 1 minute to go in the first but St. Thomas responded quickly to go ahead again and end up the period with the scoreboard showing 2-1 for the visitors. The second goal was scored by #5 Andrew Wood assisted by #8 Mark Lewis.

The Stars kept playing well and with heart but all their efforts were still not enough to stop a Grimsby team that did not want to travel to St. Thomas for a game 5. Grimsby scored once in the second and once more in the third to take the game and the series.

St. Thomas goes home proud of what they have accomplished and starts preparing for what promises to be a very exciting playoff run in the Shamrock league.

Thanks boys for the exhilarating OMHA Playdowns!

Go St. Thomas!!
