ATOM AE Chatham Regional Silver Stick

ATOM AE Chatham Regional Silver Stick was a very challenging tournament for the team.

Game 1 – 7-1 loss to the Georgetown Raiders
Game 2 – 2-2 tie with the Sarnia Sting
Game 3 – 5-3 win over the Chatham Maroons

In the opening game, the boys didn’t show up as a team and the results showed on the scoreboard.  There just wasn’t enough passing and the team just seemed to give up too early.  Also taking over a period of penalties did not help the cause.  Getting the only goal was Tysen Hunter with an assist by Dylan Buhler.

With some inspirational speeches from the coaches the team came together for games 2 and 3.  There was a lot more passing and team work on the ice.  Players were following up their positions and getting to the net.  Cameron Watson and David Gauthier both got goals on the follow up rebounds from shots and assists by Tysen Hunter.  Between the pipes, Chris Wood made some fancy moves to stop all but 2 to come out with the tie.  The defense played a solid game wrapping up their men in front of the net and taking the man in the corner to move the puck out to the wingers.

With a boost of confidence the ATOM AE team came out for the 3rd game and played their best game of the tournament beating the Chatham Maroons 5-3.  Not only did the boys skate hard and played hard, they played as a complete team, making pass after pass to the opponents net.  Playing their positions effectively, wingers,   Dylan Buhler and Noah Dos Santos assisted with the opening goal by Josh Hare.  David Gauthier made the goalie see red as he netted the second with assists by Noah Dos Santos and Devin Robison-Sareh.  Tysen Hunter got the next two goals; one short handed on a break away beating the goalie. Closing the door on the game and securing the win, Cameron Watson got the final goal of the game on another short handed goal again assisted by Noah Dos Santos.  Strong defense was the name of this game as well with the entire defense stepping up their play and protecting the goalie.  Speaking of a goalie that had a hot game was Matt Beckwith stopping the crucial shots and making the big plays when called for.

Keep up the teamwork boys and you’ll always be successful.
