Jr. Stars Shut Out the Competition!
The Omac Mortgages Novice A Jr.Stars put two games in the win column recording 16 goals for and 0 against over the weekend, improving their record to 2 Wins and 3 Losses on the season!
It all started at home on Saturday with the Thamesford Attack visiting the Timken Centre. The squad played hard and controlled the pace of the game with solid defence and a relentless fore check. This combined with heads up hockey and smart passing allowed the offence to fire on all cylinders. Despite some solid goal tending from the Thamesford net minder, the Jr.Stars were able to record a 9-0 victory with scoring coming from all three lines. Carter McGregor was between the pipes and recorded his first shut out of the year for the Stars.
The momentum continued Sunday as the Green and White hit the 401, travelling to Kitchener to face the Jr.Rangers in exhibition play. The kids had the opportunity to play under the bright lights at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. They took their excitement and turned it into another high energy game. The key to success this time was without a doubt their ability to move the puck and play as a team. Several smart plays were executed in all three zones on the ice. Despite over 10 minutes in penalties, the Jr.Stars held the competition off and goalies Cam Devries and Carter McGregor shared the duties in the second shut out of the weekend. The Stars came out with a 7-0 victory!
St.Thomas will look to continue this streak going into Tuesday against the always dangerous Dorchester Dragons.
