Back To Their Winning Ways
As the St. Thomas Junior Stars Midget A team resumed the regular season at home, they found themselves back in the winning column with a 4-1 victory over the Woodstock Navy Vets.

St. Thomas opened the scoring early when a good low shot from point man Zach Smith was tipped in by Derek Folkard.  Jesse Tottle was also awarded an assist on the goal.  With many of this years goals coming via the power play the Stars got their first chance after a holding call against Woodstock.  Plenty of chances and excellent puck movement but the Woodstock goalie was up to the task.  Dane Jacoleti scored later in the frame to make it 2-0. Folksy and Jesse got in on this on too.  After outshooting Vets 17-4 in the first I'm sure the Woodstock coaches were happy to only be down 2 going into the second.

The boys continues to pressure their opponents pouring shot after shot toward the Woodstock net and with all the quality saves it took a fluttering sand wedge from the better golfer than hockey player Ryan Vandenbroek to make it 3-0.  Woodstocks managed to score on one of their few chances while having the man advantage due to a 4 minute penalty for a head shot.

I almost fell asleep in the third as both teams looked content to leave the outcome just the way it was.  The only goal was to increase the lead to 4-1 after the same duo who opened the scoring closed it off with a Big Smitty shot and Folksy picking up the rebound to put this one to bed. (I sure everyone was sleepy after this on).  One of the most exciting moments in the game when the ref gave Woody an unsportmanlike conduct penalty, I didn't think that was possible from Woody. One other highlight and I hate to say it after a solid performance from Dozer between the pipes but someone needs to tell him that when the other team is getting a penalty he can come to the bench and when we are getting a penalty its probably best he stays where he is.  Solid game though.

It looked like the next game we play we may have most of the troops back from suspension that took place in the and prior to the tournament until after the game was over Josh Butler looked do have some discomfort to his lower body.  His good buddy TJ was assuring while telling some of the fans the reason for the injury was because they knew prior to the game that the paramedic on duty that night was of the female variety and he enjoy some attention treating his lower body injury.  All kidding aside I hope he's ready to play soon.  The next game is at home as the Stars welcome the Brantford 99er's for a 5:30 start.
