Stars Earn A Tie In St Marys
The Midget AE Jr Stars travelled to St Marys to take on the Rock AE team on the Thanksgiving holiday Monday.  Filled with turkey and pumpkin pie the boys looked to get back on track after two disappointing losses.

After what seemed like a bus ride that would never end, the boys took the ice and came out skating hard.  With Cody Howard and Don Jakubowski back in the line up the Stars pressured early and were rewarded with a goal from none other than Mr. Howard.  His first goal of two on the night.  He was assisted by Kaiden Beer.  The game then took a sudden turn as the St Mary's Rock team was assessed a couple Checking from Behind penalties and a couple Head Checking penalties allowing the Jr Stars to control the play.  Unfortunately, the Rock team potted a goal of their own, short-handed no less to tie things up.

Things settled down a bit in the second period and the two teams got back to playing hockey.  The Stars scored twice in the period to go ahead 3-1 on goals by Brendan Robison with assists from Cody Howard and Matt Iachetta followed by Cody's second of the game unassisted.  The Rock team didn't give up though and scored their second goal of the game with 1:42 left in the second period.

With a clean sheet of ice the Stars continued to pressure the Rock team but couldn't net an insurance marker.  That would prove costly as the Stars then got into some penalty trouble of their own.  On the Rock's 4th powerplay of the third period late in the game, the Rock struck again to tie things up at 3-3.  Josh Nesbitt made some incredible saves in the final few minutes to hold his team in there and the Stars has some excellent scoring chances right up until the final few seconds, but could not score the game winner.

All in all, the game did not live up to the hype thankfully and the Stars came away with a much needed tie and boost of confidence.  Again, special mention goes out to Matt Iachetta for filling in on defence, some excellent rushes by Aiden Bilyea and some excellent puck movement by our entire defensive core.  The Stars look to continue their solid play on Sunday October 14th at home versus the Southwest Bullets leading up to the Ace Bailey tournament in Stoney Creek.
